Terms
Bill – The draft version of a law presented in the House of Commons
Cabinet Minister- a minister chosen by the Prime Minister to be responsible for a specific area of the government, for example the Minister of the Environment, Minister of Finance, Minister of External Affairs etc..
Caucus – All the members of Parliament from a political party
Leader of the Opposition – The leader of the party with the second highest number of seats in the house. ( Jack Layton – NDP)
Majority Government – When the winning party has more than half the seats in parliament
Minority Government - When the winning party has fewer than half the seats in Parliament
Party – a group of people sharing similar political views
Riding – a distract that elects a Member of Parliament
